A cleric who worked on Ahmedinejad's campaign was assassinated after leading Friday prayers. This comes immediately after a failed assassination attempt on a Revolutionary Court judge.
Unfortunately, assassination is the next logical step for an unarmed populace which is being systematically slaughtered, tortured, and denied all rights.
I don't think returning terror tactics with the same is the way to go about regaining one's human rights, but...they've tried peaceful protesting. They've tried turning to the clergy. They've tried the courts. They've tried...just about every legitimate avenue. So...what's left?
Looking at it coldly, assassinating Khameni and Ahmedinejad would go a long way towards keeping the future government in line. From a human viewpoint, I can't condone it. But...who am I to judge?
I was afraid this is what would start happening next. There were assassinations when they were trying to bring down the Shah. And the clerics untook their own assassination campaign overseas right after they took power.
