| Is it so very wrong that I think the perfect, ideal pick-up line, the one that would work on me irresistably, is: "Does this rag smell like cloroform to you?" | |

| Well, I finally got around to adding tags to all of my entries. All four years of them. I feel all accomplished and anal retentive...
Anyway, just a warning: If something is tagged "nekkid pictures", the pictures are, indeed, Not Safe For Work. Truth in advertising, y'all.
Also: If something is tagged "childhood", it's gonna be triggery and probably depressing. Just so you know...I don't want anyone looking for happy childhood memories and getting blindsided. ;)

| Everybody and their mother is reposting the link to that extremely bigoted and hateful post. I think they're making a big mistake by getting outraged and posting about it, and here's why. This is a comment I posted on a friend's LJ.
I think it's really interesting...I've never even heard of this guy before this. Lots of folks on my friends list are reposting this while saying they'd never heard of him before...
This whole thing reads like a great big troll...Everybody's heard of him now, everybody's reposting, he's suddenly showing up in search engines...Looks to me like he wanted publicity and he got it. I think everyone is just buying into his little game.
The very best thing anyone can do when dealing with the level of bigotry and asshatedness in that post is to ignore it. Linking, reposting, and giving him the time of day just give him exactly what he wants.
No one with any sense will give any credence to anything he's saying. Anyone who agrees with him isn't worth dealing with and no one will change their minds. Paying attention to these people gives them the credibility and attention they want.
For the record, many many of my friends are gay/bi/trans/poly/whatnot. I am not in any way shape or form condoning anything the asshat wrote. I just think it's a huge mistake to feed his ego and desire for attention and publicity.
Say it with me, my dears:
The Litany Against Trolls
I must not respond. Trolls are the thread killer. Trolls are the little dicks that bring total bannination. I will ignore the trolls. I will permit them to pass over and through the thread. And when they have gone past I will turn the browser to see the ignore list. Where the troll has posted, there will be nothing Only I will remain.

| Here's the article: http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/26/att-blocks-4chan-this-is-going-to-get-ugly/http://www.centralgadget.com/att-blocking-access-to-portions-of-4chan-2336//b/ has already dedicated a website to plans on how to react to this situation. To me, this is really interesting because of the implications of internet censorship and free speech. Tomorrow should be...educational. Update (8:45 PM 7/26): After over an hour of trying, we finally got someone from AT&T corporate to provide a statement. AT&T has confirmed that they are “currently blocking portions of the internet site 4chan.org”, but states that they are “following the practices of their policy department.”
AT&T went on to say that they did contact (or, at least, attempted to contact, they wouldn’t clarify) the owners of 4chan. They say that they have specific reasons why they blocked these parts of the site, but they would not disclose them to CentralGadget.com. AT&T states that they have requested specific things and changes from 4chan’s owners, and that 4chan has not complied.
Regardless, without a clear explanation of specific rationale for blocking 4chan… both 4chan and CentralGadget.com encourage you to continue calling AT&T technical support, and filing your complaints there (escalate as high as possible, we have heard reports that Tier 1 support agents are being told to incorrectly state that AT&T doesn’t block any web site).
Update (9 PM 7/26): Moot, the owner of 4chan, has stated that 4chan has received no contact from AT&T, calling into question if AT&T followed their own protocol when blocking 4chan.
Update (11:15 PM 7/26): AT&T appears to have restored access network-wide to all areas of 4chan.
Update (12:30 AM 7/27): 4chan is currently down, due to a large DDOS attack, affecting most of 4chan’s servers. This appears unrelated to the AT&T blockade, but may have been triggered by the high-profile attention that 4chan has received, over the past 24 hours.
